Privacy Statement
At GIS we intend to give you as much control as possible over your personal information, including any data submitted to our system. We inform users about how we handle personal information derived from user's access to and use of GIS Information and/or the GIS Services.
‘Personally Identifiable Information’ of Casual Visitors is Not Collected and Retained
For the purposes of this statement "Personally Identifiable Information" means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual, who is subject of the information.
Residents do not have to provide personal information to visit GIS Portal to read, download, or print information. Government agencies may request Personally Identifiable Information from you in order to provide specific services that you request. Any information collected for that purpose will only be the information necessary to provide those services and it will be handled as it would be on an in-person visit to a government office.
Notice
GIS will track the domains from which people visit GIS and analyze this data for trends and statistics. Subject to the provisions of this Privacy Policy, different GIS owned sites may use accumulated data for different purposes including, but not limited to, marketing analysis, service evaluation and planning. GIS contains links to other websites, whether owned or controlled by GIS affiliates or unrelated third parties. GIS is not responsible for the privacy policies and practices of any linked website.
Cookies
GIS may employ "cookies" to provide a user with tailored information. A "cookie" is an element of data, which a service or site, when visited by a user, sends to the user's browser, and which, in turn, may store this element on the user's hard drive or memory. GIS uses cookies to better serve users who use our services; any cookies sent by GIS will be marked so that they will only be accessible by websites subject to this Privacy Policy. But, at his\her option and at his\her sole expense and responsibility, he\she may block or delete our cookies from his\her hard drive. However, by disabling cookies, certain site features and functionality may no longer work properly, or at all.
GIS do not monitor your web-browsing activities with cookies. However, cookies may be used by some GIS applications (e.g. property search, e-Services, etc.) when necessary to complete a transaction, to process data submitted to us online or to pass information from one Web page to another.
If you choose to share personal information, such as sending a message, or filling out an electronic form with personal information, this information will only be used to fulfill the request for which the information was submitted. This may require that the information is shared with another GIS department.
Surveys
Surveys and Resulting Information: Subject to the foregoing, GIS may conduct surveys or other studies of its customer base and usage for marketing and planning purposes. Participation in such surveys is at the user's option; GIS does not conduct mandatory surveys. With respect to information collected from such surveys or studies, and in the event that responses are to be publicly disclosed, users will be notified at the time they take the survey, and GIS will disclose only aggregate information regarding its users and not personal information identifying any specific individual. Circumstances under which GIS would publicly disclose such aggregate information include, but are not limited to, sharing survey results with the site population, providing data to GIS advertisers on user preferences and/or demographics, and publicizing overall usage data in press communications. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in cases where surveys allow users to submit written comments, and where GIS advises users of the possibility of such disclosure at the time they take the survey, GIS reserves the right to disclose text information provided by any user through such a survey, provided that no personal information identifying the user is disclosed.
Security
To secure site integrity, GIS employs measures including, but not limited to, security audits, use of encryption tools and software, and other reasonable security measures and procedures. Internal access to users' private and nonpublic personal information is restricted to site administrators and individuals on a need-to-know basis.
Some Unidentifiable Information Routinely Collected
In order to provide new services, design a more customer friendly site and facilitate access to it, GIS analyzes traffic on the site. Information that is not personally identifiable, such as web pages or services accessed, IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, date, time, and browser types and versions are collected and used for this purpose. The site does not attempt to associate this data with information that is personally identifiable (such as an e-mail address).
Use of Constituent E-Mail Addresses
E-mail addresses obtained as a result of a request to the GIS site will not be sold or given to other private companies for marketing purposes. E-mail or other information requests sent to the GIS Website may be maintained, in order to respond to the request or to forward the request to the appropriate department. Individuals may be able to receive updates on issues important to them, but only if they choose to "opt-in" to that specific service. By "opting-in" to one such service they do not "opt-in" to other services. Should they subsequently choose not to receive such informational updates via e-mail, they can remove themselves at any time.
