The event, opened on Last 15th of May by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai's Deputy Ruler and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, who is also Chairman of Dubai Municipality.
During the event Dubai Municipality discussed 7 best practices including the role of Dubai’s GIS in urban development.
The GIS Center was established in 2001 as a central repository of geographic information of the Emirate of Dubai, to provide GIS related services, with a mission to provide easy access to accurate and up-to-date spatial data to government, business & the public, to facilitate real-time mapping and decision making.
The GIS Center has progressed significantly with innovative and effective means of applying GIS technology for government operations and to improve quality of life in Dubai.
