In coincidence with the preponderance completion of the photography stage of GIS Base Map Project, GIS Center takes the opportunity to inform its partners along with the other users of its systems, the availability of the following products shall be announced, after which it can be acquired from GIS Center or directly accessed through exploredubai and dugis external and internal web sites respectively.
The project was commenced on the 25th of October 2003, and shall be lasting for 12 Months.
Purpose of the Project: To serve Dubai Municipality and other governmental departments, by providing the sufficient data for completing the infrastructure of the GIS base map.
Areas of the Project (View map): The project coverage is the Emirate of Dubai, which is split into two major areas, each of which is further subdivided into smaller areas, and named according to its major characteristics (Map it):

Major benefits gained :
Existing Orthophotography of the Emirate shall be updated.
All the existing Features (Elements that can be mapped ) shall be collected as 3D vector data along with there attributes, from the stereo pairs of the new photography, altogether with the data acquisition gained from field survey measurements, to serve the completion of the GIS base map infrastructure, and to provide the required GIS data to the Municipality, Government Departments, and other users.
Major Products:
Raster compressed scanned images of the emirate, and parameters for the creation of stereo views.
Raster Ortho rectified images, with overlaps (to assist viewing the different geographic features from different angles of views).
Raster mosaics of the corrected orthophotograpy for all the Emirate of Dubai.
Updated DEM ( Digital Elevation Model ), with natural and artificial break lines and other derivatives in both raster and vector formats for the whole Emirate.
Updates of the existing building heights, and heights of new buildings.
GIS Vector 3D data of all the major existing features of the emirate of Dubai; a lot of which you can currently find within our web site www.exploredubai.ae, the new vector data shall be an update and addition to a lot of existing data, and shall be according to the following feature catalogue.
Update every 3 to 6 months of all the upper mentioned products.
