Quality & Support Unit:
The follow-up and coordination unit is responsible for improving GIS Centre’s collaboration with the user Community, as well as interacting with its strategic Partners. The primary task of this unit is to follow up all activities pertaining to projects of GIS Center and coordinate with other government departments and the private sector.


GIS Data Section:
The data administration section is responsible for collecting, managing and maintaining all data that is the responsibility of the GIS Center. At the same time this section develops corporate data standards that will ensure that data coding is standardized and that data is collected only once and shared as necessary. This section is also responsible for developing Metadata for all data managed by the Center.


GIS Data Processing Unit:
- Collection and the treatment of the geographical data and their providing for the application.
- A preparation and the development of the database of the geographical data collection and the descriptive database.
- The follow-up of the developments in the collection and editing of Geodetic data and the network of the aerial points of the control.
- The preparation of methodologies for an update and the analysis of the geographical data.

Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing Unit:
- Handling arial-photography and the remote sensing and putting specifications and criteria of projects related to their execution and holding the required processing and analysis.
- Processing of the geographical data is in the field and their classification and a preparation and the update of the database and putting their exchange criteria.
- The guarantee of the quality of the geographical information systems and the surveillance of the projects development and the accuracy of the required data to all users.


GIS Development Section:
The development Section is responsible for developing, maintaining and operating GIS applications. It is also responsible for evaluating and testing systems & applications that the GIS center is intending to purchase.


GIS Planning & Development Unit:
- Planning & implementation of GIS applications within pre-defined standards related to development & programming languages and business process development and re-engineering.
- GIS application development & maintenance.
- GIS application administration through publication and maintenance gis web sites at the world wide web and intranet.
- Providing GIS information , and Application administration of map servers as well as internet & intranet portals.
- Assesement & Documentation , through testing and evaluation of in-house developed application programs or commercial off-the-shelve softwares , and providing all related technical documents and user-manuals.

Operations Unit:
- Designing and execution and integration of the rules of the enterprise geographical information systems Database and related information stores.
- Integration of Geographic & Operational databases of dubai municipality & other local government departments & authorities of the emirate of Dubai to the GIS.
- Administration, Maintenance & protection of the geographical data and its maintenance and its protection.
- Optimum use of the GIS data bases and handling application privliges.
- Doing the execution of the geographical operations and an execution and the integration of the information rules and their linking to the local headquarters and the organizations and the government corporations and departments.
- The support of equipments and the computer systems and a situation and a development and the evaluation of the artistic specifications of the systems and the programming systems to the center and their maintenance.
- Handling security and the protection of the geographical systems with suggestion and the execution of the measures and the systems related to a security and the secrecy of the geographical information network and the guarantee of the information security and a security the Doing planning and the development of the geographical systems through defining the criteria and the studies related to the software and their maintenance.
- Management of the geographical regimes like the central servants and the network of computers and systems and the equipments related to them.

GIS Services Unit:
- The provision of the services of the geographical information systems and defining the beneficiaries needs from the programs, and the applications and the systems and the central computers.
- A preparation and the update of inventory of all softwares and the applications of the geographical systems and putting a mechanism for their maintenance.
- The provision of qualified consolidation knowledge of the latest systems in the field of the geographical systems.
- Designing & implementation of training programs with the relation with the geographical information systems and their suggestion and their execution.
