The Dubai Municipality has successfully completed a training project in collaboration with Smart Square and Tanmia to promote the municipality's local work force in parallel with the UAE's vision of emiritisation. The Personnel Department has initiated this project to enhance GIS usage for different departments within the municipality.

Each trainee has undergone rigorous training in GIS software for several weeks and then joining the municipality for on-the-job training. The full training program lasted for one year. As of 02.01.2005, all NINETEEN LOCAL trainees have officially joined Dubai Municipality as regular employees. All trainees have showed tremendous amount of enthusiasm during the training period and have successfully achieved goals even outperforming new employees.
