At the Dubai Government Excellence Programme Awards ceremony on Tuesday, 19 April 2005, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the various Awards for Excellence and declared DUGIS of GIS Center as one of the Best Distinguished Technical Projects in 2004.

DUGIS is an intranet application, the Dubai Emirate Integrated Geographic Information System portal; it offers powerful capabilities in an easy to use framework and it helps in considerable savings in government expenses.

DUGIS will take Dubai government departments from using informative GIS to integrated GIS.
