Accident Road accidents recorded by Dubai Police.
Advertising Signs Id This number uniquely identifies Advertisement Signs in Dubai
Affected Area of Parcel Part of the Parcel, afftected due to preplanning or roads
B Top
Bore Hole Holes drilled at various places in Dubai to check for soil characteristics.
Bus Stop Id This number uniquely identifies a Bus Stop. Each of the bus stops spread out in Dubai is identified with this number.

Community Subdividion of Dubai Sector. Each Community is identified by a name, Community Name and number Community Number
D Top
Dataset A set of data with with common theme or simiar attributes.
DLTM Dubai Local Transverse Mercator. It is a variation of UTM projection.
Dubai Sector The emirate of Dubai is divided into 9 sections. These are called Dubai Sectors. Each Sector is identified by a number, Sector Number
Dugis Dubai Geographic Information System. A web based application which is accessible to Government Departments over the Government Information Network (GIN).

Ellipsoidal Height Height measured with the Ellipsoid model of the earth.
Entitlement Used with reference to Parcels, it describes whether a parcel is privetaly owned, Government owned, rented or granted.

Grantee This term is used with reference to Parcels. It refers to an organization or a person who donated the land to the current owner.

HpId Number used to identify a Parcel in the Building Department's system.

Large Scale A map scale that covers a relatively small area on the ground and has a high level of detail. A small area of the earth's surface on one page is a large-scale map (i.e., a 1:500 map where 1 map unit equals 500 ground units is large scale compared with a 1:1,000,000 map). Contrast with small scale.
Layer A usable subdivision of a dataset, generally containing objects of certail classes, for example parcels, roads or geology

Maintenance Assets Property owned and maintained by General Maintenance Section of Dubai Municipality.
Map Tools Set of functions to assist in map navigation
Map Viewer A box on the Dugis interface that displays maps. You can change the size of this box using the Map Viewer Size.

Old Block Division of Dubai according to the Old Plot Numbering System
Ortho Photos These are scale correct pictorial maps produced from aerial photographs that are rectified and reconstructed, removing distortion created by terrain.

Parcel Area of land demarcated by boundary and identified by a unique number - Parcel Id
Parking Meter Id Parking Meters installed in Dubai are uniquely identified by this number

Redlining This is a function of Dugis which allows users to temporarily draw lines, polygons, points etc
Rented Parcel Parcel that has been leased.

Scale It is the ratio of the distance measured on a map to that measured on the ground between the same two points. The larger the ratio, the smaller the scale. Therefore, a map of Dubai, would have a very small scale, whereas a map of a community within Dubai, will have a large scale.
Selection List List of data objects belonging to a layer/dataset, selected by user. These are shown in the Selection Window
Set Back Area of Parcel Portion of the Parcel affected by sikka only

Valence In a network, Valence refers to the number of Branches coming out of a Node. E.g. In a Drainage Network, Valence of a Drainage Manhole would refer to the number of Drainage Pipes connected to it.

Zoning Code Legal code assigned by Planning Department, Dubai Municipality to regulate the use of a Parcel. It shows, landuse, no of floors, setbacks etc
Zoom Function which allows users to gradually view smaller or larger areas of the map. In Dugis these functions are Zoom In and Zoom Out
