Best Practices

DUGIS

DUGIS, an intranet application, is the Dubai Emirate Integrated Geographic Information System portal; it offers powerful capabilities in an easy to use framework. It has nicely changed the way government users can access and interact with mapping and GIS data at their desktops.

A large proportion of the information exchanged between government departments is geographic in nature, so unifying access to this data through a central hub is immensely useful. There are considerable cost and time savings from having all this essential information at our fingertips through a single window.

If you are a DM user or a user connected to the GIN (Government Information Network), you will be able to access  DUGIS.

DUGIS technology provides a flexible set of tools to perform the functions handled by government agencies. More important, DUGIS makes data sharing among departments easier, so that the government can work as a single enterprise.

DUGIS has many advantages, including:

  • Accurate, detailed, and up-to-date geographic and address-based information, accessible via computers and mobile devices.
  • The data is integrated in real-time and presented to the user, since it continues to reside in computers of individual government agencies. Through our single GIS window, data is retrieved from multiple agencies.  For example, when a user requests information about a parcel of land he/she gets a list of data which has been retrieved from Dubai Municipality's database, as well as the Land Department's database and which is integrated in real-time.
  • Users have access to high-resolution aerial photography with easy to use tools that allows users to measure areas and distances without setting foot on-site, get DLTM coordinates of location; in addition to that users can print and/or e-mail maps in a matter of seconds.
