GIS E-Map Service:
Introduction
In line with the GIS centre's vision to make the Geographic data as a public utility, The centre had provided the government and private sectors with accessibility to link and make use of GIS data in form of customised application developed for their own use. The GIS centre is proudly introducing a new service (eMap).
What is eMap?
It is an electronic service offers an interactive, comprehensive and high quality map consist of geographic features and attributes for the Emirate of Dubai. One of the key features of this service is that it adds a significance quality to the electronic services and desktop applications. The service can be incorporated within any e _service or any application without the need for prior knowledge of GIS application programming.

For example:
Locations of Mosques and Mussallas can be retrieved from the department of Islamic affairs and charity work and displayed in the DICD eMap
Why this service is important and required?
We designed this service to increase awareness about interactive maps on the intranet and the Internet, and through the provision of interactive easy to use maps. The electronic map service provides for the user digital geographic information and research methods. Characteristics of this service are:

Faster to Load because it contains only specific layers as defined by the client.

Identify sites on the map, and that is through the use of a research tools with the use of the advantage of enlargement and miniaturization and other tools available.

eMap can be combined or plugged to any sites or program.

The user can use the eMap easily without any required training. To connect the eMap the user clicks on the eMap link and plug it to the website.
Why eMap considers an innovative and distinguished service?
The map can be integrated with other electronic services or desktop applications. This service is easy-to-use, and contains a set of tools that are used to read the map easily. The user can find aerial photographs and satellite pictures of any location.
What are the elements of the eMap service?
Map Tools enable users to navigate the map viewer through a range of clickable icons located on the top pane. Most of the icons will display features directly on the map viewer. Tools displayed on the Map Tool bar on a user’s interface will depend on User Access rights. However, some basic tools will be available to all users. The layers which is provided in eMap.
