Introduction:
The Situation:
There was a requirement from the GIS Center to aid the officers in finding the place of complaint on time. There is no available tool for the operator that will help him/her to identify the correct location of infected area. The officers receive jobs on papers with locations of places to visit and type of Pest complaint.
The Choice:
The proposed solution for Pest Control is composed of three parts:
Part One
Enhancement of Pest Control System: This part aims at facilitating GIS capabilities to reach the target location. The operator takes the caller the address or house owner name and verifies the location through web using interactive map service.
Part Two
For Group officers & Officers: This part reflects a solution that aims at enhancing the workflow of group officers and officers by imposing the PDA with GPS capabilities. Officers will be able to download geo-referenced complaints directly to their PDAs through web. This will also allow fast job dispatching between officers, and to assist group officers in arranging and dividing work between officers.
Part Three
For Management: This part reflects a solution that will reflect Pest Control Data on interactive maps. This solution will allow staff to do analysis based upon visual aid is this case the maps.
The Challenge:
Complaints Data should be downloaded and geo-referenced from web.
The Impact:
Linking between Pest Control Database and GIS Database is found highly valuable. It helped improving management of tasks handled by Pest Control section. Now operators can know exactly complaints locations. Officers can download geo-referenced complaints directly to their PDAs through web. That allowed fast job dispatching between officers.
